iPhone 11 is being phased out

With previous iPhones, things were a little softer than with those that have come out in recent years. Older versions continued to be released up to a point, but there were already difficulties with operating system or app updates. One of the most high-profile scandals related to the name Apple was the one that stopped serving early models or artificially slowed them down.

After that incident the “Apple” company stopped doing such things and searched for new ways of making their fans buy new devices. Therefore, the practice of withdrawing obsolete models from production began to be implemented. The justification for this was that it was simply unprofitable for the company to continue selling them, as the updates for them stopped coming. The situation with iPhone 11 is the most interesting.

How the release of the new product displaced its predecessor from sale

In October 2020, Apple unveiled its new developments to the world. We’re talking about the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. They were available for purchase as early as the same month. As soon as the presentation of the new generation of devices took place, all the iPhone 11 series were withdrawn from production. It was still possible to buy them, as dealers still had stock available.

A couple of months after the event, it was reported that the company was dropping the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 Pro. With the former, one could still understand the reasons, as its functionality was inferior even to the iPhone SE. It could have led to some financial difficulties anyway, and was therefore in danger of being withdrawn from sale altogether. Nevertheless, the chances of keeping the model “alive” were still present.

Things were more complicated with the 11 Pro version. It failed to sufficiently satisfy consumers, while the 12 Pro as well as the 12 Pro Max provided the required user experience and proper functionality. The range has significantly faster processors and the camera is even more impressive in its capabilities. Interestingly, the only competitors up to then were the Eights, which had been at the top for several years.

Stoppage of old models and price policy of new ones

In 2020, the Apple giant discontinued four models of its mobile devices at a time. The devices that remained with the implementers could still be sold, as the subsequent software updates they still support. Another issue is that they are not available in Apple’s official shop.

“Apple hardware isn’t cheap, especially when it comes to new products. But even with time, even if the prices go down, they still remain at a decent level. So similar production belongs to a luxury segment, hence the most powerful new devices are estimated more than 1 thousand dollars.

The high cost is explained by the fact that in the process of creation the most talented and advanced “minds” are involved. In addition, high-quality, reliable and safe parts are used to produce the devices. The design is a speciality of the company.
